Mission Statement

The goal of NJCSS is to bring together educators from all the social studies disciplines, including ... history, economics, political science, sociology geography, anthropology, and psychology and serve as a forum for scholarly dialogue and a catalyst for the continuing development of Social Studies education.

The responsibility of the NJCSS is to serve as an advocate to emphasis the importance of supporting Social Studies education to insure historical understanding, critical thinking and civic responsibility are a cornerstone of K-12 education in order to develop well rounded citizens.

Finally, the mission of New Jersey Council for the Social Studies is to provide the leadership, professional development opportunities and resources to support social studies education.
